Although NC suffered some serious flooding from Hurricane Matthew, Shear Madness survived just fine. We headed back down to re-launch and move her back to Morehead City Yacht Basin. Aside from the expected dirt from being in a boat yard, there were no other issues.

Underway to Morehead City Yacht Basin
Once the boat was secured, we headed back to DC for a while, catching up with lots of friends and family and even attending some events where we had to put on “grown up clothes”! Then it was off for a stint in Colorado, where we visited more friends and family and rented our ski gear for the upcoming ski season. Biggest problem is that so far there is no SNOW!! But we are planning to spend a couple months at Copper Mountain beginning in mid-January, so are keeping our fingers crossed!

Nice view on Colorado hike
Sadly, the Washington Nationals didn’t make it to the World Series – I had some tickets at the ready if they had made it! But it was nice to see the Cubs win. Maybe the Skins will make it to the Super bowl! LOL, one can dream.
After Colorado, we spent a bit more time in DC and I even got to play some golf. Then it was back to the boat to finish up a few small projects. Although the boat is still listed for sale, we are expecting it to take some time, so have begun planning a trip back to the Arctic next summer. Hmmm, that means winter in the snow and summer dodging icebergs! Will have to make sure to stock up on hot chocolate!

So you are not selling Shear Madness? Interesting pic of you Case and Mario. When I was with the phone company I used to handle Marino and associates and worked with Mario on some telco projects. I also handled the early dial up service providers and knew Case from Quantum. I helped build the precursor- Control video ( Von Meitner and Kimsey )when they first started out.. small world

Thanks for your call – Don’t lose track of me. Loved seeing your boat even if you are leaving it some day.. Please let me hear. My apt. is nice enough but it is so dreary..I can still use my car and have not fallen yet but – a-n-y-d-a-y….. One Christian woman said I won;t be given a proper death as my beliefs are not hers. ACK!. So I think(but do not bother to say so to her) she is wrong in not accepting others who believe she(they) wrong. So, Ha! I still choose to stay alone, mostly. Finding a few books OK – I thought for a while I gave up but books are my pleasure. I am still trying to send, sell out furniture. Some nice stuff will always leave lesser $$$. A bother AND a pleasure to be free.

Hey Kathy, Hope you guys have a great winter. Thanks for the update and if you choose to go to the Arctic one more time be sure to stop by the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron and say hello. Dexterity has been out of the water for about a month now and all settled in for winter. We spent the summer cruising the Bras d’Or Lakes and Mahone Bay. Not nearly as adventurous as you and Bradley but gets us out of the house.
Take care and enjoy the Holidays.
